Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which suppresses bacterial growth. That preservative is what separates it from plain sterile water. It is supplied in a sealed vial by the manufacturer and we don’t open, decant or repack it.
Store it at room temperature, below 25°C and out of direct sunlight, before and after opening. Don’t keep it in the fridge: cold bac water can make peptides go cloudy or gel-like when you mix them. Use it within the period appropriate to your protocol once the stopper has been punctured. Don’t use it if the seal is broken or the solution is discoloured or cloudy.
